Taking the GRE is a specialized skill that necessitates specialized instruction. The test measures analytical writing, quantitative reasoning, and verbal reasoning, using a variety of different methods of assessment. In the analytical writing section, students are prompted to write an essay about a given topic and dissect an argument. The quantitative section requires test-takers to demonstrate mathematical knowledge through comparison, problem solving, and data interpretation, with question types such as multiple choice and fill-in-the-blanks. The verbal reasoning section tests vocabulary, reading comprehension, and critical reasoning with tasks such as sentence equivalence and text completion. With all of these skills to master, it is easy for graduate school applicants to become overwhelmed by the GRE. Manhattan Review's one-on-one GRE tutors will set your mind at ease and break down the exam into manageable exercises that produce excellent results in a reasonable amount of time.

Meet a Melbourne GRE Tutor: Nathan R.

Nathan R. is a native of a small town near Dublin, Ireland. He is a graduate of Georgetown University, with a BA in American musical culture, and the University of Maryland, with an MA in music history. He specializes in the music of the Irish diaspora, and has lived in several cities around the world with substantial Irish populations, including New York, London, and Auckland. At each of these stops, he served as a Manhattan Review GRE tutor while playing the violin in a group that performs Irish traditional music. He has lived in Melbourne since 2013, and has helped prepare numerous local students for the GRE and acceptance to graduate programs in a wide array of disciplines.

Nathan's student evaluations indicate a high degree of satisfaction with his GRE prep tutoring. "Nathan knows how to make GRE prep a manageable task, and he gave me confidence in my ability to succeed," said one successful applicant to a graduate program in history at an Ivy League school. "Before I started tutoring sessions with Nathan, I was frustrated and dejected by the thought of preparing for the GRE," said a prospective graduate student at a Melbourne university. "After our first hour together, I realized that I could do this." In addition to his tutoring, Nathan teaches traditional Irish fiddling privately, and can often be found performing with his group in local Irish pubs. He also enjoys playing rugby on weekends, and his students are usually not surprised to see him every week with a fresh set of bruises.
